KDA Reveals Plans for Housing Project Seeks Land Allotment Near Northern Bypass
Karachi: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) plans to launch a mega housing project expanding over 14,000 acres near Karachi’s Northern Bypass to lessen its financial challenges.
The Governing Board of KDA had approved the scheme in 2022 but was waiting for the approval for the possession of the land from the Government of Sindh, Director General of KDA Naveed Anver added.
He also revealed that the KDA would submit a proposal to Chief Minister Sindh to allocate over 14,000 acres of land near Northern Bypass at discounted rates payable in four equal installments. In addition, for possible land acquisition, the authority would approach the BoR (Board of Revenue) to obtain ownership details of private land in Deh Mithaghar and Deh Mahio.
Furthermore, Mr. Naveed also highlighted the growing demand of housing in the city, and underscored the need for approximately 100,000 new residential units annually. Currently, the housing units are only 32,000; consequently, citizen seek informal settlements.
