Over two dozen illegal court structures removed, land cleared
Cracking the whip on illegal structures in a major crackdown in the Federal Capital, the anti-encroachment operation continued in which more than two dozen illegal extensions of courts in F-8 Kutcheri were razed. On the directives of the Supreme Court (SC) and under the supervision of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Registrar Sajjid Baloch, all unauthorized structures in the kutcheri except lawyers’ chambers were razed. The lawyers were granted time by the Supreme Court to vacate voluntarily in two months. The illegal structures on district kutcheri premises were built in violation of building by-laws and encroaching upon public and private property. In March, five courts constructed on commercial plots were demolished. According to the CDA officials, the two dozen courts were issued a notice period ahead of the operation. On the other hand, the CDA, and ICT have jointly carried out a massive operation against land mafia in Shah Allah Ditta area of Islamabad to retrieve forest land.
