Agreement signed for Red Line construction
Trans Karachi and a construction firm for the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit project signed an agreement to have the first means of transport system using Biomethane produced from animal waste in Karachi.
All the affairs of the Red Line BRT are being supervised by Trans Karachi, which will execute the project while the Sindh Mass Transit Authority will act as a regulator.
The Asian Development Fund, along with the Sindh government, the UN Green Climate Fund (GCF), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) will fund the project. A grant of $11 million has been issued by the GCF.
The 29-kilometer corridor will extend from Model Colony in Malir and Jinnah Avenue, intersecting at Numaish with the Green Line Corridor. It has been renamed the Karachi Breeze Red Line Project.
