KP GOVT & OGDCL SIGN DEAL FOR DAM CONSTRUCTION IN KARAK

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Energy & Power Department, Irrigation Department, and Public Health Engineering Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of a dam. The water storage is for the Nashpa Greater Water Supply Scheme known as NGWSS in District Karak, KP.

The population of the Nashpa block is very large with 21,916 people and has suffered from an acute shortage of drinking clean water as there is neither a groundwater potential to feed it within the tube wells nor do they have a perennial spring that can be developed to produce a water supply scheme to meet the area’s requirements of water.

The departments of energy and power, and public health were present at the MOU signing ceremony. The dam will be located 24 kilometers northeast of Karak city and is 54 kilometers away from Kohat on the Indus Highway
