Govt okays plan to fight child stunting

In order to reduce stunting among children up to five years old, the federal government has given a green signal to a five-year plan in 67 districts across the country.
The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) proposed the Tackling Malnutrition Induced Stunting in Pakistan- July 2021-June 2026 project worth Rs312.4 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for additional consideration.
However, the planning Commission had raised serious concerns about its efficacy terming it as a “short-term measure, not sustainable and costly “and also stated that the stunting will only be reduced to 36% after spending Rs312 billion.
