Construction sector sees surge of FDI in July

Foreign investment in construction saw an outflow of 4.9m in July this year compared to the corresponding month of last year.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan, in the first month of the fiscal year, a net outflow of $4.9 million was witnessed as compared to an inflow of $31.2m in July FY21.
Last year, Prime Minister Imran Khan had raised the status of the construction industry in April and also announced a number of incentives for investors and businessmen.
It is pertinent to mention that the construction of the building is the biggest segment of the market, accounting for 52pc of the total revenue generated in 2019 while the construction sector absorbs 7.6pc of the country’s total labor force.
