CDA planning to construct 244 Km long Bicycles Lanes to boost sustainable transportation
Islamabad: CDA has announced its plan to construct a 244 Km dedicated bicycle lane in Islamabad to promote sustainability and eco-friendly commuting in the city. The project is initiated as “Cycling as an Alternate Transport.”
According to the shared details by the Capital Development Authority Islamabad, the relevant authorities are committed to developing a detailed network for cycling across the federal capital of Pakistan. The route will be two-way over 146 km (i.e., 98 km on each side).
The project aims to reduce the carbon footprint in Islamabad and deal with the issue of traffic congestion. The plan involves e-bike and paddle options while the authority ensures 100% connected and protected rider lanes.
During the meeting, Chairman CDA Anwar-ul-Haq emphasized the goal of developing a secure bicycle route throughout the city. It also aims to boost cycling as the practical transportation option in the federal capital while boosting eco-friendly transport. As per the detailed plan of the initiative, approximately 72 bicycle parking stations will be placed across the route for a healthier environment and facilitation of cheap transportation for the citizens.
