CDA Launches Plan to Reforest Margalla Hills with 10M Trees
Islamabad: In a significant move towards environmental conservation, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated a project to reforest the Margalla Hills.
With an investment of PKR 2 billion, the groundbreaking project seeks to plant 10 million trees across the Margalla Hills National Park. The initiative addresses ecological challenges such as declining green cover and invasive species. Spanning 908 square kilometers, the Margalla Hills National Park in Islamabad faces challenges such as declining green cover and invasive species. The project will help in the sustainable land management and environmental balance.
Over five years, the CDA plans to enhance the flora and fauna of the park, reviving local species and executing measures like constructing water ponds and check dams. Besides, the project is poised to protect natural resources and boost the local economy by promoting tourism.
