KARACHI: Shafiq Ahmed Latki, Collector of FBR Collectorate of Customs Export, stated that the government has implemented a trade facilitation scheme for the convenience of exporters.

During a visit to the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Latki emphasized the importance of the Export Facilitation Scheme in promoting exports through a modern digital automation system. Under this system, indirect exporters will no longer need to seek approval from the collector on a consignment-by-consignment basis. Instead, exporters will only need to provide details in the system without requiring formal approval.

Pakistan has established the Single Window Portal, providing more than 70 departments access through one platform. Faraz-ur-Rehman, the President of KATI, believes that increased exports are necessary to improve the economy, and an uninterrupted supply of raw materials can stabilize exports. The refunds of exporters have been delayed, causing a lack of investment.

Faraz-ur-Rehman welcomes the Export Facilitation Scheme and One Window Services, stating that timely provision of these facilities to exporters will help them import raw materials and pay associated taxes, which will improve exports and enable competition with other countries. Masood Naqi, the chairman of the standing committee, has requested an awareness seminar to train exporters on this modern automated system. KATI has given suggestions to improve the system, which should be addressed. Zubair Chhaya, Nighat Awan, Muhammad Umar Latif Deputy Collector (EFS), and other members were present during the meeting.
