SCODA will aid Pakistan to boost its exports
The pavilion representing Pakistan at the Qingdao SCODA Pearl International Expo Centre is seen as a valuable platform for boosting exports to China and other countries in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). According to Ghulam Qadir, the Commercial Counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, this online platform is crucial for increasing exports, but it must be driven by demand. The centre, which is located in the SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA), began operating in November 2022.
The Pakistani pavilion at the exhibition displays a range of products, such as clothing, rice, and food items, as well as cultural traditions. Qadir emphasized the importance of understanding China’s import preferences and demand from other SCO nations to diversify and increase the number of products displayed at the pavilion.
The pavilion was supported by the Chinese government, which is eager for Pakistan to boost its exports to Beijing. Qadir noted that Pakistan has a significant trade deficit with China, and ramping up exports is a way to address it.
