PM Shehbaz Chairs Crucial NEC Meeting to Finalize Development Programmes
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to chair a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) at the PM House today to finalize the development program for the upcoming financial year.
During the meeting, the development program for the current financial year will also be reviewed. Attendees will include the four provincial chief ministers along with representatives from the federation and provinces.
The NEC is expected to approve economic targets for the fiscal year 2024-2025, and the 13th five-year plan (2024-2029) will be presented for approval
Proposed Growth Targets in the next fiscal year include
- 3.6% Economic sector
- 12% for Inflation
- 2% for Agricultural sector
- 4.4% for industrial sector
- 4.1% for services sector
- 14.2% of GDP for the investment with a national savings target of 13.3%
The NEC will also review proposed public investments for the next financial year, including the federal development program, provincial annual development plans, state-owned enterprises’ development plans, and progress reports from ECNEC and the Central Development Working Party.
