MarGo Chosen as Official Mascot for Islamabad
Islamabad: To enhance Islamabad’s cultural identity and celebrate its significance, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has proudly introduced MarGo as the city’s official mascot.
MarGo’s name derives from “Mar,” an abbreviation for Margalla, and “Go,” symbolizing prosperity. MarGo’s appearance, resembling that of a cheetah, represents vitality and reflects the rapid progress of Islamabad. With its sunglasses and muffler, MarGo conveys sophistication and embodies the cosmopolitan essence of the capital. This aligns with the current global trend of iconic mascots being used to represent city cultures.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to strategically place MarGo, a new landmark, across famous locations in Islamabad to promote the city’s identity and welcome visitors. Besides cultural vibrancy, MarGo will attract more tourists. As the footfall increases, it will also boost real estate investment opportunities like societies and commercial spaces. MarGo is expected to boost tourism and civic pride, bringing together the diverse population of Islamabad under a common symbol that showcases collective achievements.
