KP govt plans to increase urban forest cover in Peshawar

An expert panel has formulated a plan to expand the urban afforestation plan in Peshawar in a bid to mitigate the effects of climate change.
The panel included Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Director-General Ammara Khan and environmental experts.
Under the urban plantation of millions of shady trees during the monsoon season, the next plan is to plant saplings on the banks of the Gandhao Khwar water channel.
The experts also argued that the reason for an increase in heat waves in the city is due to the concrete and steel infrastructures and the axing hundreds of historic trees along the Bus Rapid Transit route.
