KP Government to Establish EZs in Kurram and South Waziristan

Peshawar: The Government of KP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) has decided to develop districts of Kurram and South Waziristan by establishing two Economic Zones (EZs).

The Minister of Newly Merged District Affairs, Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education, Dr. Syed Amer Abdullah has instructed the essential process of this initiation. Mr. Syed Amer issued the instructions during the meeting at the Civil Secretariat while discussing the establishment of Economic Zones in the newly merged districts of the FATA also known as the Federally Administrated Tribal Area.

During the meeting, he also reviewed the various aspects of choosing suitable locations for EZs. The consultants presented detailed feasibility studies including outlining potential locations, possibilities, and benefits of developing new zones.

Moreover, the meeting concluded with the development of two Economic Zones in two districts in areas where there are no existing industrial estates of the economic zones or the Small Industries Development Board (SIDB) developed by the Economic Zones Development Company. The initiatives are taken to benefit the local population of these areas.
