Too Much Tax Imposed on Mobile Phones, Says Lawmaker
Lawmakers in the National Assembly’s finance committee said smartphone taxes are too high and make devices unaffordable. FBR officials admitted valuation issues and promised to revise the mechanism by March. The committee urged lowering taxes to ease costs for consumers. PTA noted that only a small share of high end phones are imported while most are assembled locally. PTA also said the 5G licence is expected to be issued early next year.
