Sale and Purchase of Property: Punjab Introduces OTP Verification Mechanism
Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) has introduced an OTP (One-Time Password) system to verify stamp duty challans for property transactions in Punjab. The aim is to improve security by confirming the mobile number of the buyer or seller. Real estate experts say this has caused issues for overseas Pakistanis, builders, and people who do not have a SIM registered in their own name. PLRA says most concerns are now fixed and email OTP is available for overseas users. Experts recommend allowing registered real estate agents to generate challans to keep the process smooth.
