Cashless Economy Initiatives to Ensure Sustainable Growth: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that transforming Pakistan into a cashless economy is key to achieving sustainable growth. Chairing a review meeting, he directed authorities to boost awareness campaigns in rural areas and accelerate digitalization. The government’s initiatives, including digital wallets under BISP and RAAST QR code payments for utilities, have shown progress. Over 68% of the population has been brought into the financial system, with digital wallets to be fully activated by month’s end. The PM praised relevant ministries for their efforts and urged them to meet targets on time and expand financial inclusion further.
