Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the long-delayed project of renovation, repair, and refurbishment, and rehabilitation project of Khyber Teaching Hospital.

A total of Rs700 million had granted to the administration for the scheme by the previous Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf led coalition government. It was due to complete within six months under the supervision of the Board of Governors (BoG).

The PM opened the newly built OPD section and other facilities in the basement that is comprised of 16 procedure rooms for out-patients, pathology and diagnostic services laboratory services, pharmacy, radiology, blood bank, laundry, and central sterile services department. 

Khyber Teaching Hospital was built in the 1970s and it was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The lack of maintenance and poor hospital administration gradually started damaging the infrastructure. Not just that but Rs500 million for the replacement of the hospital’s outdated air-conditioning plant.
